Focus and Scope
The Omo International Journal of Sciences focuses on publishing peer-reviewed original research, critical literature reviews, technical notes, future articles, policy briefs, and short communications. The journal is scoped into publishing research in Natural and Computational Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Food Science, and Postharvest Technology.
Peer Review Codes
Confidentiality: Reviewers should not share any information from an assigned manuscript with anyone without prior permission from the Editor or preserve the data from an assigned manuscript.
Competence: The assigned reviewer with inadequate expertise should feel responsible and may decline the review.
Constructive assessment: Reviewers should appreciate the positive aspects of the work, comment on areas for improvement constructively, and indicate the enhancement needed. A reviewer should not use abusive language while commenting on a manuscript.
Impartiality and integrity: The Reviewer’s decision should solely depend on scientific merit, relevance to the subject, and scope of the journal rather than the financial, racial, ethnic origin, etc., of the authors.
Disclosure of conflict of interest: The reviewer should notify the editor of any conflict of interest.
Timeliness and responsiveness: Reviewers should morally abide to provide the review comments within the stipulated time and be active enough in responding to the queries raised by the editor if any.
Publication Frequency
Omo Int. J. Sci. is a biannual journal but accepts manuscripts at any time and publishes them online as soon as they finish the review process.
Open Access Policy
This journal believes in free access to knowledge and provides immediate open access to its publications.
The Journal strictly complies with moral justice and ethics, and would likewise direct a lawful audit if required on a case-by-case basis.
Publishing Frequently and Schedule
The Omo International Journal of Sciences (Omo Int. J. Sci.) publishes regular issues twice a year, in june and December. The call for papers for the June issue is typically announced in January, and for the December issue, in July. This structured, 12-month cycle allows sufficient time for rigorous peer review, author revision, and production processes. While the regular issues are in July and December, the journal accepts manuscripts year-round and publishes them promptly once the review process is complete, ensuring timely dissemination of research. The journal is currently active, with the most recent issue.
Publication Timeline: The Journal has established target timelines for key stages of the publication process.
- Manuscript Submission Acknowledgement: Authors will receive an Acknowledgement of manuscript receipt within 7 days.
- Peer Review: The typical peer review process takes 8 to 12 weeks. Authors will be notified within this timeframe. The timeframe may vary depending on reviewer availability and agreements. Authors will be promptly informed of any delays or changes to the expected timeline. Typically, authors receive review recommendations automatically. However, the editorial manager may also inform the author of the decision via email.
- Acceptance Decision: Once the review process is completed, with at least two reviews received from assigned reviewers, a decision will be communicated to the author. If both reviewers provide positive feedback (Accepted with Major/Minor/No Change), the manuscript will be accepted. If both reviewers recommend rejection, the manuscript will be rejected. If the reviewers have differing opinions (e.g., one recommends acceptance, the other rejection), a third reviewer will be assigned. The final decision will be based on the majority opinion of the reviewers.
- Publication: After the review process, authors are expected to submit the revised manuscript within the specified timeframe i.e., 1-2 weeks. Digital version production and publication typically take 2-3 weeks. Generally, the total time from acceptance to publication is 30-45 days. However, delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances related to author revisions or reviewer availability. The hard copy will be published within 30 days of the digital publication.
- Plagiarism: Omo Int. J. Sci. ensures that published papers exhibit a plagiarism limit of less than 20%. This threshold does not apply to the literature review sections of the articles.
